Remember this, classics never make a comeback. They wait for that perfect moment to take the spotlight from overdone, tired trends.
More and more we are starting to hear about the, “underdog” sneaker brands. To start, Rihanna’s Fenty x Puma Creeper has just won the Shoe of the Year Award presented by Footwear News. This is a landmark victory as this makes Rihanna the first woman to win the award, not only getting Puma into the spotlight but also opening doors in a male dominated industry.
adidas’ rise in popularity has been meteoric, winning the aforementioned Shoe of the Year twice in a row preceding this years win by Rihanna. The Stan Smith and YEEZY BOOST taking awards shows how far back the company’s roots stretch as well as how they continue to make classic footwear today.
And while we are talking about trending growth, we mustn’t forget about Under Armour. Founded in 1996 it is the youngest of the three brands but their sales have been on the steady incline since their establishment. Enlisting top athletes like Michael Phelps and Stephen Curry has helped their public image giving them a premium and contemporary likeness.
While Nike has cemented itself as the king of sneaker brands, most other brands have a, “The bigger they are, the harder they fall.” mentality and it is resonating with consumers. They’re pushing innovation in places Nike can’t and keeping the story of the underdog becoming a legend alive.
My question to you is, will you take advantage of these companies fighting for your dollar?
The LeBron Soldier line is celebrating it’s 10th anniversary and what better way to do it than with a very modern and abstract adaptation!
First, there are no laces. Instead wearers are strapped in, a trend we are hoping leads to more sneakers like the Nike Hyperadapt 1.0. This means you can better focus on that last play of the game where you need to come in clutch.
Having worn these in the finals instead of his signature LeBron XIII, there is speculation that the Soldier better fit the playing style of “The King”. Boasting powerful transition and instinctive response, this is a sneaker well worth playing in.
Make sure to stop by your closest Expressions to grab a pair of these before the NBA season starts! Thank you for your patronage!
The mornings are cooler and the sun is setting a bit earlier, however, there are still some last breaths of spring coming from Mother Nature. For this, we have a few styles that will keep you covered but also keep you cool, an Autumn day in New England can be cruel and unpredictable.
The first brand we will highlight first is Hudson. They have brought us many classic looks based off of contemporary and popular styles, and while the looks change, the quality stays the same.
Be the first to stop by your local Expressions and grab these pieces and more, they will go fast. And as always, thank you for your patronage!
Welcome to the inaugural STAFF PICKS post, we are going to get to know a lot of our staff by seeing what types of kicks they prefer. Make sure to follow our Instagram and Twitter accounts, we will also converse with employees via Snapchat, check us out @expressionskix.
UPDATE: This is our Snapcode (photo coming soon), let us know if it works!
Back to the kicks. I went to the Garfield Avenue location for a surprise visit. After being greeted and such, I pointed to the wall of seemingly endless sneakers and asked Xavier, which was his favorite. His choice was the Kobe XI EM in white and black.
Clean and simple.
Next we have Stephan‘s (stehf-in not ‘steven’) pick. He chose the Air Max CB34 “Godzilla” because of his love for all sneakers big, bulky and in the way.
These make me feel like I’m 6′ something despite my actual height.
Lastly, we have a bonus pick chosen by yours truly! The Air Jordan XIV in two slept on colorways, “Oxidised Green” and “Indiglo”.
I love green, all shades of it!
There you have it! We have officially kicked off STAFF PICKS, thank you for checking it out and stay tuned for more!
At Expressions we try to get the newest, most exclusive, most elusive, most spectacular footwear on the market. Thus, you already knew a Timberland post was coming.
These boots are a staple in any closet, being popularized by everyone from that guy on the building catcalling to the Notorious B.I.G. in a music video or Tupac on the big screen. Either way they are stylish and the functionality has only gotten better with time. Let’s take a moment to appreciate these great boots.
Remember the Helcor x Timberland 6″ Premium? Looks better right!?
We also have a great selection for women including the Kenniston boot!
And of course we have some exclusive heat for the kids (Expressions loves the kids). The 6″ Premium gets a rust makeover with a clear sole!
We have many more colors and styles available so stop by your local Expressions and check them out!
While Nike and Brand Jordan keep our shelves looking full, we have a great selection of other popular brands.
Today we will highlight New Balance, the brand responsible for well received silhouettes including the 574, 530 and 597. Did you know New Balance was founded in Bean Town? That’s Boston, MA. It is only right that we support a brand founded and located so close to our Expressions locations. Take a look at some of the styles we have to offer and make sure you stop by your favorite Expressions location to grab a few pairs!
We are back with some more Fall fire. This time we are going to highlight the emerging “sneakerboot” trend that is taking off by winterizing popular sneakers.
First, we have the Nike Air Presto Utility. The classic runner has been given sturdier materials featuring a weather resistant upper with the classic Presto sole. Check out the black/sail and cargo green colorways below.
Looking for a more rugged look with more protection? Try out the Air Max 95 Sneakerboot! As with the Presto Utility, the AM95 boot has been given a reworked upper to help you out during those cold days.
We also have a wide range of the Nike Lunar Force One. This sneakerboot has been evolving over time and they are now lighter but still fall/winter ready. Check out the Team Red colorway below and stop by your closest Expressions to check out the rest of our collection.
The warm weather has deserted us and it is time to gear up for autumn. Gone are the days of flip-flops and warm beaches, it is time to prepare for soggy leaves and random rain showers with multiple layers and durable footwear.
That’s where Expressions has you covered, with a wide range of boots in stock, finding the perfect cross between style and functionality will be easy, this will be a great autumn! See some of what we have available in the photos below.
Remember the Jordan Future? Basically the Air Jordan XI with a reconstructed upper, this popular sneaker has been transformed into a “sneakerboot”, essentially making this an Air Jordan XI boot.
The Jordan Future Boot boasts a much thicker mesh than its predecessor along with a sturdy sticky rubber sole made for all conditions. This boot will easily last through autumn and well into the winter.
If you’re looking for a classic with a twist, we suggest the Timberland 6” Premium “Patriotic Red”. We carry an array of expected colors from Timberland, but the red on this specific style falls in line with the changing colors of the leaves, also, what’s more patriotic than an autumn in New England?
What’s more, this style is limited so you will be the envy of your wheat colored friends.
Speaking of classics, Nike has been improving its Lunar Force Sneakerboot and it is better than ever. With a lighter construction you would expect a sacrifice in insulation, but you know what happens when you assume! Anyway, we have a bunch of colors in both men’s and kid’s sizes so double up if you need to!
Make sure to stop by your favorite Expressions location to check out what is in stock! Thank you for your patronage!
For a limited time we are taking an additional 20% OFF of previously marked down kid’s and women’s footwear. With a plethora of colors and brands to choose from, this is a sale you will want to catch before it is too late!
Here is the breakdown of how the size runs work:
Crib sizes run from sizes 0-3 and in most cases have a soft bottom.
Toddler (TD) sizes run from 4-10 and have the hard bottom.
Preschool (PS) sizes range from 11-3. (11, 12, 13, 1, 2, 3)
Grade School (GS) are next and range from 4-7 with the occasional 3.5.
Women (Wmns) sizes run from 6-10.*
*When converting a women’s size to a men’s size, go down 1.5 sizes. For example, a women’s 10 is a men’s 8.5. However, this is a generally accepted conversion, all feet sizes vary.
